Anthony Joseph is a British/Trinidadian poet, novelist, musician, and scholar who was born on November 12, 1966 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Joseph was born in Trinidad and reared by his grandparents in Port of Spain. He began writing as a child, citing calypso, surrealism, jazz, his grandparents' spiritual Baptist church, and the rhythms of Caribbean speech as major influences. Since 1989, Joseph has resided in the United Kingdom.
